What it means for your floor

Resistance is not the whole answer
A floor can sit inside its resistance band and still let a person build a charge as they walk. Resistance says where a charge can go. Walking voltage says how much gets generated in the first place. S20.20 wants both answered.

The number to beat
Under 100 volts. For context, the system published on New Era's own ESD page measures 15 volts of body voltage generation with dissipative footwear, well inside the limit.

It is a walking test, deliberately
The person walks a defined path while the instrument records. Standing still on a good floor tells you very little, because the charge is generated by the separation of shoe from floor with every step.
