Standard
ISO 14644-1:2015
Classifies cleanrooms by airborne particle concentration, ISO Class 1 through 9. Referenced when an ESD floor also has to hold a particulate rating.
What it means for your floor
01
Two requirements on one floor
A cleanroom ESD floor has to satisfy two unrelated specifications at once: a resistance band and a particulate class. They are not in conflict, but they do constrain the system, the seams and the way the floor is cleaned.
02
Still current
The 2015 edition was reviewed and reconfirmed in 2021 and remains current.
03
The maintenance overlap
Cleanroom cleaning regimes and ESD floor maintenance can pull against each other. A finish or wax applied for particulate reasons can sit between the floor and the ground path and take the system out of range.
